Ethics Review Committee

Ethics is an understanding of the nature of conflicts arising from moral imperatives and how best we may deal with them. It is an integral part of good medical practice. Modern medical ethics based on four fundamental concepts of individual autonomy, beneficience,non-maleficience and justice.

The National Eye Hospital Ethics Review Committee ( ERC ) is a 12 member committee established in May 2013 by the Director of National Eye Hospital. This Institute is the only dedicated tertiary eye care provider in Sri Lanka. The new ERC is operated according to the international and Ministry of Health guidelines adopted according to the institutional requirements.
